An Attitude Of Gratitude

As I write this, my home is beginning to be filled with the sweet smells of Thanksgiving.  Jenna has already made biscuits and cornbread for that southern dressing.  There is a hint of cranberry shimmering to a sauce and those pumpkin pies are calling my name.  Oh, I’m feeling both hungry and thankful.

Thankfulness is both emotion and expression.  The emotion is a genuine recognition of having received a blessing where it was not expected or earned.  It is then we reflect a humble expression of gratefulness towards the One through whom the blessings flow.

Gratitude is an attitude and therefore can be chosen.

This week is an opportunity to look back and reflect on the wonderful blessings that we have received.  It is an opportunity to choose gratitude and say thank you to the One who has graced you with such blessings.

As I look back and reflect on this past year, I see the many families our Grace Kids have touched and the students Ascend has reached.  I see the growth of our church family and the incredible outreaches we have been able to participate in.  I reflect on the heartfelt conversations I’ve had in the altar as sons and daughters have had transformative encounters with the Lord.

I am very thankful for a strong, healthy church family!   I am thankful for the friends and family we have in this community.  I am thankful for you.

Let me encourage you to take a heartfelt moment this year to look your family in the eyes and say thank you.  Let them know what they mean to you.  Then take them by the hands around the dinner table and give thanks as a family to the Lord above.

I pray that our Lord and Savior will grace your home and family with His presence.  I pray that He will be gracious towards you and give you peace and cause all that you put your hand to to prosper.

Happy Thanksgiving!

PS: This Sunday I am excited to welcome my good friend Evangelist Levi Lutz to Grace.  Levi is the director of the Evangelism bootcamp for CFAN and the evangelist for Together In The Harvest Ministries.  Last year their students led over 3 million people to the Lord! It will be a great Sunday. I look forward to seeing you there!
