Ask, Obey, Believe

God told Isaac not to go to Egypt but to remain in the promised land. The Lord was calling Isaac to trust and obey with a faith that God would bless him abundantly. In fact, He promised not only to bless Isaac but to bless all of the nations through Isaac’s blessing. Talk about abundance! Isaac was blessed to be a blessing.  All he had to do was obey.

Isaac’s lesson to us is simple.  Obedience unlocks the door of heaven’s overflow.

Obedience is faith in action.  It’s where the rubber meets the road and our life bears out with our actions what we truly believe within our heart.  This is where God calls us to live.  To believe Him with an unwavering faith that He will accomplish all that He has promised.  Our obedience unlocks the door to heaven’s overflow!

Jesus said, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent” (John 6:29). That’s all He asks of us— believe in Him.  Believe His promises for your life and your family. Believe the dream He has dreamed over your life. Believe Him for exceedingly abundantly above all that you could ask or imagine. Simply believe His word to you.

As a church family, we have heard the Lord say, “finish what was started, finish for the future”. Because of that we are obeying with a big, bold step of faith into our future. This campus expansion project is greater than anything we’ve ever done before. It’s risky. However, the risk of not moving forward is far greater than the risk of remaining where we are.

As your pastor I’m asking you to choose to be an active participant in this. Pray with open ears and an open heart and ask the Lord, “what’s my part in this?”. Then listen for Him to speak.  Then, having Heard His voice, choose to obey and believe.  Believe that He is able to accomplish far more than we could ever ask or imagine. That’s a promise in His word.

This is such an exciting season we are in and one that is already transforming our church family. I am believing for 100% participation from the youngest to the eldest amongst us. We can all be part.  This is why we are purposely engaging in this season of faith building allowing each person that attends Grace to have time to be able to pray and listen to the Lord. This all leads to November 14, Commitment Sunday, when we will all come together as a church family and celebrate what God has called each of us to do.   I am also believing on that day for the largest single cash offering we’ve ever received in our history on November 14th. I realize that is a bold statement of belief, but I serve a God who makes all things possible.

If we put our heart upon the altar and ask God to speak, I know that He will do far more than we ever imagined. This is a season of supernatural provision.  A season of signs, wonders and miracles!

This weekend we continue in our series, “Exceedingly Abundantly”. Over the last two weeks we’ve looked at the faith journey of Abraham and Isaac. This week we will look at the faith journey of the Israelites as they first glimpsed into the promised land. I know it will be a message of great encouragement to you. I look forward to seeing you in this amazing season of blessing.
