Day 5 – Am I Qualified To Evangelize?

“I have become its servant by the commission God gave me to present to you the word of God in its fullness— the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the Lord’s people. To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me.” – Colossians 1:25-29

It is absolutely natural to feel unqualified for any purpose bigger than ourselves. As a matter of fact, if we want to evangelize effectively, it must come from a place of both faith and trepidation, because the reality is, we are representing (re-presenting / presenting again) the Creator of the universe. Colossians 1:25-29 confirms that not only has God entrusted us with His message, but He has also fully equipped us to accomplish that task. Let that sink in… The Creator of the Universe saw it fit to entrust us with Himself- “The Hope Of Glory.” When we have a right perspective of who God is, and who we are in Him, it instills a fearless trust that supersedes every misconception we apply to ourselves. When we truly fear God, we become fearless of everything else, and if we allow it, this will produce an unshakeable confidence that has the power to change the world.

The effectiveness of your evangelism ultimately depends on God’s power working within you and not your talents or abilities. It is both immeasurably humbling and encouraging that His message going forth through us was His idea to begin with!
