Do You Know Where Your Seat Is?
Last week we began a new series on spiritual warfare at the church. First, may I say I am humbled and honored by the feedback from so many who found the message to be life giving and helpful. What a wonderful Sunday as worship was filled with the presence of the Lord and the time around altar was filled with encounters. I am ready for more!
Last week I told you there is a war raging. It’s true! If you are breathing then you are facing a spiritual adversary who seeks to devour you. Sunday I gave a list of eight signs you are facing spiritual opposition:
1. Apathy (lost your spiritual passion and fervor)
2. Frustration (on edge, irritable, anxious)
3. Confusion (lack of spiritual direction)
4. Stress (no peace)
5. Weariness (no energy, sluggish, tired)
6. Resignation (strong desire to quit assignment)
7. Temptation (especially to old bondage)
8. Questioning (deconstruction, questioning your faith or long held beliefs, direction)
(check out Sunday’s Notes for 8 Sword sharpening Scripture to combat these attacks http://bible.com/events/48748339)
If you find yourself right now in a spiritual fight, I’ve got good news! There is a seat for you in a place of provision, power and peace. Paul wrote, “even when we were dead in our trespasses, [God] made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:5–6).
Yes, you are engaged in a spiritual fight, but you are seated in the midst of that fight next to Jesus in heavenly places. It is as if a storm is raging outside, yet you are comfortably reclined inside your home enjoying time with your family with full confidence that nothing happening on the outside can touch you on the inside.
The tactic of the enemy is to convince you that you have to abandon that seat and come face him on his battlefield where the odds are stacked in his favor. HEAR ME, friend! Don’t abandon you seat! Don’t leave your position! Learn to fight from ABOVE not BELOW!
I have so much more to share with you, but it will have to wait till Sunday!
Know that Jenna and I love you, pray for you and are looking forward to worshiping with you!
