Living Compelled

Compelled By Love

“For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.” (2 Corinthians 5:14-15).

Radical Truth: The call to evangelize is simply a call to LOVE

Do you see the call to Go as a BURDEN Or BLESSING?

Matthew 11:28–12:1 (ESV)

28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

If any aspect of following Christ, even sharing the gospel, seems like a heavy yoke… you’re carrying it wrong.

Question: What compels you or prevents you from sharing the gospel

The ill fitting yoke…

#1 Living compelled by SELF

It is possible to share the message of salvation with selfish motivations

Wrong motivations

  • Guilt  (I have to do this)
  • Ambition (I just came for the selfie)
  • Fear (I’m afraid of what might happen)
  • Shame (Their sin says something about me)

These are all ill fitting yokes

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Romans 12:2).

The light fitting yoke…

#2 Living compelled by the SAVIOR

  • Abide In HIM

You become what you behold

“Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. 5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:4-5)

  • Put Faith Into ACTION

“In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” (James 2:17)

When I connect with His heart, He carries me

“For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” (Philippians 2:13)

Action Steps:

Think of 3 to 10 people who are close to you but far from the Lord.  Commit to making it a daily point of prayer to lift them up before the Lord.
