The Connection We Crave

One of the gifts I’m most thankful for in my life is friendships. Those friendships that you smile with joy and contentment after having a deep, authentic conversation. You feel like you’ve been seen. Like you’ve been heard. You feel lighter because you were able to share from your heart. Friendships where you laugh together until your face hurts. A friend that is a safe place where you can just be you. Friendships you can ugly cry with and look at each and say, “me too.” And friendships that you felt challenged and invoked to go deeper in your relationship with God.

Have you ever had a friend like this!?

My prayer is that if you haven’t you WILL as you lean into your relationship with God and allow Him to bring new friendships in your life that will be life giving.

We CRAVE deep, authentic relationships! It’s how God wired us, for close relationships!

God created you first and foremost for relationship with Him, to be loved, seen and celebrated by Him and then to show others His love. When we are in relationship with our beloved Jesus, we are better able to be a loving friend for others. But how many times have we looked to a friend to fulfill what only God can fulfill? We end up disappointed, hurt and back to facing things alone for fear of being hurt again.

I’ve been in seasons where I’ve felt the loneliness and allowed the enemy to isolate me from stepping out to be a friend to someone. I didn’t want to be hurt, I had a hard time trusting, and I let comparison and assumptions keep me from reaching out.

But over time God in His grace and mercy helped me to know how loved I was by Him, to know who I was in Him and all because of that confidence grew in me to be who He’d created me to be. I was able to show up for others as a better friend to demonstrate His love. We were meant to share our lives, to serve one another, care for one another, celebrate one another, fight for one another, sharpen one another and experience life together!

What if you became that friend you’ve always longed for? Step out of the loneliness, the hiding, the distrust, the isolation and trust God again for the friendships you crave.

Believing for divine, authentic, life giving friendships in our lives!
